Overview

This full-day tour starts with a hotel pickup in Cusco early in the morning. Guests are transferred by bus to the Ollantaytambo train station, where they board a scheduled train to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu. The train ride passes through the Sacred Valley and offers views of the Andean landscape. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, a local representative provides instructions before guests take a bus up to the Machu Picchu archaeological site. A professional guide leads a 2.5 to 3-hour tour of the citadel, covering key sites such as the Guardian’s House, Temple of the Sun, Temple of the Three Windows, the stone quarry, and the agricultural and urban areas. The guide speaks English or Spanish, with other languages available on request. After the guided tour, there is about one hour of free time for guests to relax or explore independently. Then they take the bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch at local restaurants (not included). The return trip follows the same route by train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, then by bus to Cusco’s historic center where guests are dropped off at their hotels. The entire experience lasts approximately 15 hours and includes all transfers, train tickets, entrance fees, and round-trip bus service between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu.
