Overview

This tour focuses on the glow-worms found in the native bush near Rotorua. The outing lasts about three hours and includes a walk of approximately two kilometers through forest trails. Guests travel in a small minivan of up to eight people with an experienced driver-guide who provides information about the glow-worm life cycle and the local wildlife. The walk leads to a site beside running water where thousands of glow-worms appear, creating a display similar to a starry sky. Along the walk, other nocturnal animals such as wallabies, possums, and the morepork owl can often be heard or seen. After leaving the forest, the tour offers a chance for star gazing under the night sky when conditions are clear. Light refreshments and air conditioning in the vehicle are included.
