The tour begins with a scenic drive passing through local towns that preserve traditional customs and offer views of the snow-capped Ausangate, Peru's fifth highest mountain at 6,384 meters above sea level. Participants will also see the Wonderful Red Valley and local wildlife such as vicuñas, which are known for their fine wool. Upon arrival at the main viewpoint of Vinicunca, the group will have about an hour to explore the area, take photographs, and observe the distinctive geological colors of the mountain.
